What happens in this chapter

Nature flourishes under Rama's rule

The forest trees always flower and fruit. Elephant and lion live together; birds and beasts forget their natural enmity. Herds roam without fear and a cool, fragrant breeze blows. Creepers give honey when asked, and cows give milk as one wishes. The earth is always full of crops; in Treta the ways of the Krita yuga have returned. Knowing the king to be the Self of the world, the mountains open their mines of gems. Rivers run cool and sweet. The ocean keeps its bounds and throws jewels on the shore. The moon fills the earth with light, the sun gives only the heat that is needed, and clouds rain when asked.
