Lankini sends Hanuman on: go in with the King of Kosala in your heart. For one on whom Rama looks with grace, poison turns to nectar, an enemy turns friend, the ocean shrinks to a cow's hoofprint, fire grows cool, and Sumeru weighs no more than dust. Very small, remembering Bhagwan, Hanuman enters. He searches palace after palace and sees warriors everywhere. In Ravana's own palace, wonderful beyond telling, he sees the king asleep, but Vaidehi is not there. Then he notices one lovely house with its own shrine to Hari. Its walls bear the marks of Rama's bow and arrows, and fresh tulsi grows there. The king of monkeys is filled with joy.
गरुअ सुमेरु रेनू सम ताही । राम कृपा करि चितवा जाही ॥
अति लघु रूप धरेउ हनुमाना । पैठा नगर सुमिरि भगवाना ॥

bhavana eka puni dīkha suhāvā | hari mandira taham̐ bhinna banāvā ||
रामायुध अङ्कित गृह, सोभा बरनि न जाइ ।
नव तुलसिका बृंद तहँ, देखि हरष कपिराइ ॥
rāmāyudha aṅkita gṛha, sobhā barani na jāi |
nava tulasikā bṛṃda taham̐, dekhi haraṣa kapirāi ||
