Sita's message delivered to Rama

Hanuman hands over the crest-jewel and Raghupati takes it to His heart. With tear-filled eyes, Hanuman reports, Janaka's daughter said: Friend of the lowly, I love your feet in thought, word and deed; for what fault have you left me? I know one fault: my life did not leave when we parted. That is my eyes' offence, for they hold my life back. Separation is fire, my body cotton, my breath the wind; it would burn in a moment, but my eyes pour tears and the body cannot burn. Her suffering is better left untold, Hanuman ends; each moment is an age. Come quickly, Lord, conquer the wicked and bring her.
