An ill omen, Mandodari pleads again

No earthquake, no wind, no weapon seen, yet the crowns fell. Everyone thinks in his heart that a dreadful omen has come. Seeing his court afraid, Ravana laughs and twists it: when heads falling has always been lucky for me, how can falling crowns be a bad sign? Go home and sleep. They bow and leave. But since the earrings fell to the ground, grief has lodged in Mandodari's heart. With tears in her eyes and joined palms she says: hear my plea, lord of my life. Give up enmity with Rama. He is no mere man. Believe my words, the jewel of the Raghu line is the form of the universe, and the Veda pictures the worlds in each of his limbs.
