Vibhishana's request and Rama's longing for Bharata
After Shambhu leaves, Vibhishana pleads: Lord, you have slain Ravana and shown endless grace to me, low-born as I am. Now sanctify my house, rest from the battle, give my treasures to the monkeys, and take me with you to Ayodhya. The Lord's eyes fill with tears. Brother, your treasury and house are mine, he says. But when I think of Bharata, each moment passes like an age. He wears an ascetic's dress, his body is thin, he repeats my name ceaselessly. Friend, find a way for me to see him soon; if I arrive after the term is over, I will not find him alive. Rule for a kalpa, he tells Vibhishana, remember me, and then reach my abode, where all saints go.
