Hanuman recognises his Lord

Shri Rama answers plainly. We are sons of Dasharatha of Kosala, come to the forest to keep our father's word. I am Rama, this is Lakshmana, and a tender princess was with us. A rakshasa has carried off Vaidehi and we are searching for her. Now, brahmin, tell us about yourself. At this Hanuman knows his Lord and falls clasping His feet. Shiva tells Uma that the joy of that moment cannot be told; Hanuman's body thrills and no word comes. Then he gathers himself, sings praise, and protests with love. I asked as a servant would, but why do You ask like an ordinary man? Deluded by Your maya I did not know You. I am dull and crooked, and on top of that the Lord forgot me.
