Gifts sent forward, two oceans of joy meet
Golden pitchers, fine trays and vessels of many kinds are filled with sweets as good as nectar, too varied to name. King Janaka gladly sends many lovely things as gifts: ornaments, clothes, great gems, birds, deer, horses, elephants and carriages of every sort, with auspicious and fragrant things in plenty. Porters walk with loads of curd, flattened rice and endless presents on their shoulder poles. When the welcoming party sees the procession, their hearts fill with joy and their bodies thrill. Seeing the welcomers so finely arrayed, the procession too beats its drums in delight. Eager to meet, some from each side gallop forward together, like two oceans of bliss crossing their bounds to meet.
