Shri Rama continues. Seeing you carry axe, bow and arrows, the boy took you for a warrior and grew angry; he knew your name but not you, and answered as his lineage taught him. Had you come as a muni, he would have put the dust of your feet on his head. How can we be your equals? Where are the feet and where the head? My name is the small word Rama, yours is great, joined with the axe. Our bow has one guna, its string; you have the nine holy virtues. In every way we are beaten by you; forgive our offences. Hearing himself called muni and vipra again and again, Parashurama laughs in anger: you are as perverse as your brother.
