Shri Rama tells Lakshmana that this is Janaka's daughter, for whom the bow sacrifice is being held; she has come to worship Gauri and moves through the garden spreading light. Her unearthly beauty has stirred his naturally pure mind. Only the Creator knows why, and his auspicious limbs are throbbing. It is the nature of the Raghus never to set foot on a wrong path, he says, and his mind has never looked at another's wife even in a dream. Few men are like those whose back no enemy sees in battle, whose heart no other woman takes, and from whom no beggar hears a refusal. Even as he talks, his mind drinks her beauty like a bee at a lotus.
