Ravana takes Lanka and lifts Kailasa

Mighty rakshasa warriors once lived in Lanka, but the devas slew them all in battle. Now, at Indra's bidding, ten million guards of Kubera, lord of the yakshas, lived there. Ravana somehow got word of it, arrayed his army and besieged the fort. Seeing his fierce warriors and great host, the yakshas fled for their lives. Ravana went round the whole city and his worry left him, his joy great. Judging it lovely and naturally hard to reach, he made it his capital. He gave homes to each as fitted, and made all the rakshasas content. Once he attacked Kubera and won the Pushpaka chariot. Then, as a mere sport, he went and lifted Mount Kailasa, as if testing the strength of his arms, and went away greatly pleased.
