What happens in this chapter

Kamadeva fails before Narada

Kamadeva reached the ashrama and by his own power made spring appear. Trees of many colours burst into flower, cuckoos called and bees hummed. A cool, slow, fragrant breeze blew, fanning the fire of desire. Rambha and other young apsaras, skilled in every art of love, sang in waves of melody and played with balls in their hands. Pleased with his helpers, Kama spread many more snares. Yet none of his arts touched the muni, and the sinful god grew afraid for himself. Who can press on the boundary of one whose great guard is the Lord of Lakshmi? Admitting defeat, Kama with all his company fell at Narada's feet in fear and spoke humbly.
