The king's message: bring Sita back

Rama tells Sumantra he is dear as a father and begs him to do all he can so the king does not suffer on their account. Hearing this, the Nishada and his people are distraught. Lakshmana then speaks some bitter words; the Lord checks him, knowing them improper, and makes Sumantra swear not to repeat them. Sumantra gives the king's further message: Sita cannot bear the forest's hardships. Raghubara and you must find a way to bring her back, or I will be left without support and will not live, like a fish without water. At her father's or her in-laws' home there is every comfort; she may stay wherever she wishes until the trouble passes.
