Shri Rama agrees, Kausalya's tender farewell

Saying this, Sita is overcome; she cannot bear even the words of separation. Seeing her state, Shri Rama understands that if he keeps her back by force she will not live. The merciful lord of the Solar line says: give up your grief and come with me to the forest; this is no time for sorrow, so make ready quickly. He then touches his mother's feet for her blessing. Come back soon and end the people's sorrow, she says, and do not forget your hard-hearted mother. When will that blessed day and hour come, son, when your mother, still alive, looks on your moonlike face, calls you my darling, draws you to her heart and gazes on you with joy?
