Vasishtha lists what the consecration needs

Vasishtha gives his orders gladly and gently. Bring water from all the holy tirthas, he says, and herbs, roots, flowers and fruits, naming many auspicious things one by one. Bring whisks, deerskins, cloths of wool and silk beyond count, gems, and every object fit for a king's consecration. He explains the full Vedic rite and asks for canopies over the city. Plant mango, areca and banana trees heavy with fruit along the streets. Lay out lovely jewelled squares and have the bazaars decorated quickly. Worship Ganapati, the guru and the family deity, and serve the brahmanas in every way. Make ready flags, banners, arches and pots, horses, chariots and elephants. Everyone takes his words on their heads and sets to work.
