Rama smiles and welcomes the forest

Kaikeyi sits unabashed speaking bitter words, so harsh that harshness itself is shaken. Her tongue is a bow, her words many arrows, and the king the soft target, as if cruelty had taken a body to practise archery. She tells Raghupati everything. Rama, sun of the solar line and treasury of joy, smiles inwardly and speaks words free of every fault, soft and lovely, ornaments of speech. Hear, mother: that son is blessed who loves the words of his father and mother. A son who satisfies his parents is rare in all the world. In the forest I shall meet munis; it is for my good in every way. On top of that it is my father's command and has your consent, mother.
