Lakshmana chooses the spot; the huts rise

Shri Rama tells Lakshmana the ghat is good and asks him to find a place to stay. Lakshmana sees the river's high northern bank curving like a bow. Tulsidas builds the image: the river is the bowstring, restraint and charity the arrows, the sins of Kali the game, and Chitrakuta a motionless hunter who never misses. Shri Rama is pleased with the spot. Knowing his heart is set on it, the devas come with Vishvakarma disguised as Kol and Kirata forest folk and build lovely huts of leaves and grass, one small and graceful, one large. In the doha the Lord with Lakshmana and Janaki shines in the dwelling like Kamadeva in a muni's dress with Rati and Vasanta.
