Homes in hearts free of vice

Valmiki names the inner marks of a heart fit for the Lord. No lust, anger, pride or delusion, no greed, attachment or malice, no deceit or hypocrisy: in such hearts dwell. Those dear to all and kind to all, even-minded in sorrow and joy, praise and abuse, who speak the true and pleasant after thought, and waking or sleeping rest in his refuge alone, dwell in their minds. Those who see another's wife as a mother and another's wealth as the worst poison, who rejoice at others' prosperity and grieve at their misfortune, and hold Shri Rama dear as life, their minds are his home. The doha: for whom he alone is master, friend, father, mother and guru, there let both brothers dwell with Sita.
