Praising Rama's virtue and nature, the muni gives the news: the king has prepared the consecration and wishes to make you yuvaraja. Keep the prescribed restraints today, Rama, so that providence brings the work safely through. Then he returns to the king. A wonder rises in Rama's heart. We brothers were born together, he thinks; we ate, slept and played together; our ear-piercing, sacred thread and marriages were all celebrated together. In this spotless line there is this one wrong, that the eldest alone is crowned and the brothers set aside. Tulsidas prays that this loving regret of the Lord may remove crookedness from devotees' hearts. Just then Lakshmana arrives, brimming with joy, and Rama welcomes him with tender words.
