Invocations, and Ayodhya's joy after the wedding
Tulsidas opens the kanda with three Sanskrit shlokas. The first asks protection of Shri Shankara, Parvati at his left, Ganga on his head, the young moon on his brow, poison in his throat, the serpent king on his chest. The second honours Shri Rama's lotus face, which neither brightened at the news of the crowning nor faded in the sorrow of exile. The third bows to dark, tender Rama with Sita at his side and bow in hand. Then the chaupais tell how, since Rama came home married, Ayodhya has known fresh joy daily, wealth pouring in like rivers into the sea. Everyone gazes at his moon face, and all pray to Mahesha that Dasharatha make Rama yuvaraja while he still lives.
