Worship of Mahalakshmi and Saraswati
A six-verse chapter giving the worship of Shri on a sacred altar or mandala for the fulfilment of wishes. The limb mantras are formed from the seed shrām, shrīm, shrūm, shraim, shraum, shrah, assigned in turn to heart, head, tuft, armour, eyes and weapon, after which the seat and image are honoured. The mandala has a lotus at its centre and four gates. Lakshmi's limbs are worshipped there, with Durga, Ganesha, the guru and the kshetrapala placed in the corners, and fire offerings follow. The main mantra given is Om gham tam dam ham shrīmahālakshmyai namah, used with the retinue named earlier. The chapter ends with mantras of Saraswati, among them Om hrīm vada vada vāgvādini svāhā, for mastery of speech.
