Kashyapa Asita or Devala addresses Pavamana Soma in gayatri. These swift Somas, released like chariots and racing steeds, have neighed. They move like broad winds, like the rains of Parjanya, like the flickering of fire. Purified and mixed with curds, the wise Somas have pervaded the poet's thoughts. Groomed and deathless, they run without tiring, seeking the paths of the mid-air, and they have reached the heights of Heaven and Earth and the highest region. They followed the highest thread as it was stretched. Soma is praised for holding the cattle-wealth taken from the Panis, and for making the outstretched thread resound.
