What happens in this chapter

Each one seeks his own work

Shishu Angirasa gives four pankti verses to Soma Pavamana, each ending, flow round, Indu, for Indra. Our thoughts are many and the ways of people differ: the carpenter looks for what is broken, the physician for the injured, the brahma for one who presses Soma. The smith, with dry plants, bird feathers and stones, looks for a man with gold. I am a poet, says the seer, my father a physician, my mother grinds with the stone; with different thoughts we all seek wealth, as cows follow their pasture. The last verse lists the plain wants of beings and of the body: the horse a light chariot, the frog water.
