Indra, fill the sickle with barley
Kurusuti Kanva asks Indra plainly for good things: a thousand cakes of purodasha with food, hundreds of cows, ointment and adornment, a horse, golden ornaments and many earrings, for Indra is famed as the giver. Indra cannot be brought down or overpowered; he hears and sees everything, and he punishes the anger of mortals before blame can strike. Soma, all riches and good fortune are gathered in you. My longing goes to you for barley, cows, gold and horses. In the closing verse the rishi takes the sickle in hand and asks Indra to fill it with barley, cut or gathered.
आ नो॑ भर॒ व्यञ्ज॑नं॒ गामश्व॑म॒भ्यञ्ज॑नम् ।
सचा॑ म॒ना हि॑र॒ण्यया॑
ā no bhara vyañjanaṃ gāmaśvamabhyañjanam |
sacā manā hiraṇyayā
उ॒त न॑ः कर्ण॒शोभ॑ना पु॒रूणि॑ धृष्ण॒वा भ॑र ।

nakīṃ vṛdhīka indra te na suṣā na sudā uta |
nānyastvacchūra vāghataḥ
नकी॒मिन्द्रो॒ निक॑र्तवे॒ न श॒क्रः परि॑शक्तवे ।
विश्वं॑ शृणोति॒ पश्य॑ति
nakīmindro nikartave na śakraḥ pariśaktave |
viśvaṃ śṛṇoti paśyati
स म॒न्युं मर्त्या॑ना॒मद॑ब्धो॒ नि चि॑कीषते ।
पु॒रा नि॒दश्चि॑कीषते
sa manyuṃ martyānāmadabdho ni cikīṣate |
