What happens in this chapter Gods sit like sons at mother's lap Seekers of the gods sing heaven and earth with homage at the rites, says Vasishtha, and the poets' unmatched prayers spread out like branches of a tree. Let the rite go forth like a swift horse; raise the ghee ladles with one mind, spread the grass, for the flames have risen toward the gods. Let the gods sit on the top of the grass like sons around their mother, and let the ladle anoint the assembly. Agni is asked to give among the clans, so that with him we stay unharmed and companions in wealth.
