Shyavashva Atreya praises Savitar in Jagati. Its first line is recited to this day and appears again in the Shvetashvatara Upanishad: the seers yoke their minds and yoke their thoughts to the great, wise seer. Great is the praise of Savitar, who alone knows the order of the rites. The poet puts on every form and brings forth blessing for two-footed and four-footed beings. Desirable Savitar lights up the vault of heaven and shines after the dawn. He measured out the earthly realms, goes to the three bright worlds, joins the sun's rays, circles the night, and by his laws becomes Mitra and Pushan.
