What happens in this chapter

Every mortal seeks the leader's friendship

Svasti Atreya addresses the Vishvedevas in Anushtubh, closing with a Pankti. Every mortal should choose the friendship of the Deva who leads, and every man strives for wealth and glory to grow. Those who follow you, O leading Deva, may we be joined with them in riches. The rishi asks for guests, men and wives, and that every enemy waiting on the road be driven far off. The last verse calls this leader the lord of the chariot and prays for welfare, wealth and well-being, praised by men and praised by the Devas.
