Indra's wide bounty

Atri, son of Bhumi, offers Indra a short hymn in anushtubh. Indra of a hundred powers, your bounty is wide and your gift far-reaching; give us splendour, lord of good rule. The food you hold, worthy of fame, spreads out golden-hued and hard to overcome. Your powers, wielder of the stone, are abundant, and you two devas rule heaven and earth for help. The rishi asks Vritra's slayer to bring manly strength from whatever skill is his, since he is kind to men. The refrain closes the hymn: may we be well guarded in your shelter, hero, may we be well guarded.
