Dvita Mriktavaha of the Atri family praises Agni in anushtubh, closing with a pankti. At dawn the beloved guest of the people is to be praised, the immortal who delights in all offerings among mortals. The rishi names himself, asking that Agni, by his own might, give soma and strength to Dvita. He calls the long-lived flame on behalf of the patrons whose chariot goes unharmed with gifts of horses, who guard the hymns and spread the barhis. The final mantra thanks the patrons who gave him fifty horses together with praise, and asks Agni to make their fame great and shining.
