Vamadeva Gautama praises Heaven and Earth in trishtubh, the last three verses in gayatri. Let the great, eldest pair, Heaven and Earth, shine here with bright hymns, when the bull bellows, measuring them wide. Divine, worshipped with the gods, unharming, they stand pouring out plenty, true to rita, with gods for children, leaders of the sacrifice. He was a master worker among beings who begot these two, wide and deep, well fixed, and by his skill joined them without a beam. Guard us with your wide shelter. Purifying your bodies, you rule by your own strength and carry rita forever.
