Gauriviti Shaktya praises Indra in six Trishtubh verses. Men honour the devas with thought and sacrifice, seeking wealth, and those famed with horses in the contest. The call of these worshippers reached heaven; with minds eager for glory they kissed the earth. This hymn of the immortals is for those who long for treasure. The Ayus praised Indra when they sought to break open the stall full of cows and to milk the great earth of a thousand streams. Make Indra your helper, the rishi says, unbending, taming the attackers, generous and bearing the vajra. The Vritra-slayer filled all names; whatever we wish him to do, he does.
