Jatavedas urged like a racehorse
Shyena Agneya praises Agni Jatavedas in gayatri. Now urge on Jatavedas like a strong racehorse, to sit on this barhis of ours. I raise great praise to this Jatavedas, generous, whose heroes are the inspired poets. The flames of Jatavedas that carry offerings to the devas, with them may he quicken our yajna. Three short verses ask the knower of all births to come to the grass, accept praise, and send the offerings up.
अ॒स्य प्र जा॒तवे॑दसो॒ विप्र॑वीरस्य मी॒ळ्हुष॑ः ।
म॒हीमि॑यर्मि सुष्टु॒तिम्
asya pra jātavedaso vipravīrasya mīḻhuṣaḥ |
mahīmiyarmi suṣṭutim
या रुचो॑ जा॒तवे॑दसो देव॒त्रा ह॑व्य॒वाह॑नीः ।
ताभि॑र्नो य॒ज्ञमि॑न्वतु
yā ruco jātavedaso devatrā havyavāhanīḥ |
tābhirno yajñaminvatu
