Shachi Pauloma, Indra's queen, praises herself in anushtubh. Yonder the sun has risen, and my good fortune has risen; knowing it, I have won my husband, I the victorious. I am the banner, I am the head, a fierce and eloquent speaker; my husband follows my will once I have prevailed. My sons slay foes, my daughter is a queen, I am the winner, and my fame is highest with my husband. I have done the offering by which Indra became glorious and highest; now I am without a rival. I have taken the splendour of the other wives, and I rule over this hero and his people.
