The two Soma carts addressed
Havirdhana Angi, or Vivasvan Aditya, addresses the two havirdhana carts that bring Soma to the yajna. Its first verse is well known: I yoke to you the ancient prayer with homage; let all the sons of immortality hear, who dwell in the heavenly abodes. The carts are asked to sit in their place and be a good seat for Soma. The rishi climbs five steps of the rite. He says the Devas chose death for themselves and did not choose immortality for their offspring; they made Brihaspati the rishi of the yajna, and Yama gave up his own body.
