Pramlocha gives Ruchi a bride

Markandeya continues. From the middle of the river rose the graceful apsara Pramlocha and spoke sweetly to Ruchi. She told him that through her favour a beautiful maiden had been born to her by Pushkara, the great son of Varuna. She offered this girl to him as his wife and foretold that a son of great wisdom, a Manu, would be born of her. Ruchi agreed. Pramlocha drew out of the water the lovely maiden named Manini, and there on the river bank the sage took her hand in marriage with due rites. Of her was born a son of great valour and splendour, famed as Raucya, son of Ruchi, the Manu of whom Markandeya had already spoken. The chapter is short, seven verses, and closes Ruchi's katha.

मार्कण्डेय उवाच

90.1

ततस्तस्मान्नदीमध्यात्समुत्तस्थौ मनोरमा ।
प्रम्लौचा नाम तन्वङ्गी तत्समीपे वराप्सराः

tatastasmānnadīmadhyātsamuttasthau manoramā |
pramlaucā nāma tanvaṅgī tatsamīpe varāpsarāḥ

90.2

सा चोवाच महात्मानं रुचिं सुमधुराक्षरम् ।
प्रसादयामास भूयः प्रम्लोचा च वराप्सराः

sā covāca mahātmānaṃ ruciṃ sumadhurākṣaram |
prasādayāmāsa bhūyaḥ pramlocā ca varāpsarāḥ

90.3

अतीवरूपिणी कन्या मत्प्रसाद्वराङ्गना ।
जाता वरुणपुत्रेण पुष्करेण महात्मना

atīvarūpiṇī kanyā matprasādvarāṅganā |
jātā varuṇaputreṇa puṣkareṇa mahātmanā

90.4

तां गृहाण मया दत्तां भार्य्यार्थे वरवर्णिनीम् ।
मनुर्महामतिस्तस्यां समुत्पत्स्यति ते सुतः

tāṃ gṛhāṇa mayā dattāṃ bhāryyārthe varavarṇinīm |
manurmahāmatistasyāṃ samutpatsyati te sutaḥ

मार्कंडेय उवाच

90.5

तथेति तेन साप्युक्ता तस्मात्तोयाद्वपुष्मतीम् ।
उद्दधार ततः कन्यां मानिनीं नाम नामतः

tatheti tena sāpyuktā tasmāttoyādvapuṣmatīm |
uddadhāra tataḥ kanyāṃ māninīṃ nāma nāmataḥ

90.6

नद्याश्च पुलिने तस्मिन्स मुनिर्मुनिसत्तमाः ।
जग्राह पाणिं विधिवत्समानीय महामुनिः

nadyāśca puline tasminsa munirmunisattamāḥ |
jagrāha pāṇiṃ vidhivatsamānīya mahāmuniḥ

90.7

तस्यां तस्य सुतो जज्ञे महावीर्य्यो महाद्युतिः ।
रुचे रौच्य इति ख्यातो यो मया पूर्वमीरितः

tasyāṃ tasya suto jajñe mahāvīryyo mahādyutiḥ |
ruce raucya iti khyāto yo mayā pūrvamīritaḥ
