What happens in this chapter Dhumralochana burnt to ash The messenger returns in anger and tells Shumbha all she said. Furious, the asura king orders his general Dhumralochana to drag her to him by the hair. Dhumralochana goes with sixty thousand asuras and commands her to come before his master. The Devi answers calmly that if he takes her by force, what can she do? He rushes at her, and with a single sound, hum, she burns him to ash. The asura army attacks; the Devi's lion tears the asuras apart and drinks their blood until the whole army is destroyed. Hearing this, Shumbha orders Chanda and Munda to go with a great force and bring her bound, or slay her and her lion.
