Rajshekhar Basu, who retold the Itihasas in Bengali, dies

Rajshekhar Basu, chemist, lexicographer and the humorist ‘Parashuram’, dies in Calcutta. His Bengali prose renderings of Valmiki’s Ramayana (1946) and the Mahabharata (1949) are still read in Bengali homes.
