Rana Sanga dies at Kalpi
Preparing to fight Babur again, Rana Sanga dies in camp at Kalpi; Mewar tradition holds that nobles who wanted no new war poisoned him. He bore eighty wounds and had lost an eye and an arm in battle.
Mahatma Gandhi assassinated
Gandhi is shot by Nathuram Godse on his way to the evening prayer at Birla House in Delhi. Bharat keeps the day as Martyrs’ Day.
