Closing verses to Rama and Narayana

The closing verses first salute Shri Rama, remover of calamities and giver of every good; may Rama and Lakshmana guard us on every side. Then the name as medicine: by the remedy of saying Achyuta, Ananta, Govinda, all diseases perish. Raising the arm, the verse declares there is no shastra beyond the Veda and no god beyond Keshava; when the body is worn and sick, Ganga water is the medicine and Narayana Hari the physician. Two verses ask pardon for any syllable missed or added. As rain falling from the sky goes to the sea, so every salutation to any deva reaches Keshava. The last verses praise reciting the names on Dvadashi, near an ashvattha tree, or in a Shiva temple amid tulsi, ending Hari Om Tat Sat.

May the mighty Rama and Lakshmana, their bows drawn back to the ear, guard me in front, behind and on both sides.

वेदाच्छास्त्रं परं नास्ति न देवः केशवात्परः ॥

satyaṃ satyaṃ punassatyamuddhṛtya bhujamucyate |
vedācchāstraṃ paraṃ nāsti na devaḥ keśavātparaḥ ||

With arm raised it is declared: truth, truth and again truth. There is no shastra higher than the Veda, and no God higher than Keshava.

Having searched all the shastras and reflected on them again and again, this one conclusion stands firm: Narayana, Hari, is the one to meditate on.

6.11

ākāśātpatitaṃ toyaṃ yathā gacchati sāgaram |
sarvadevanamaskāraḥ keśavaṃ prati gacchati ||

As water fallen from the sky goes to the ocean, so every salutation offered to any deva goes to Keshava.

6.16

एष निष्कण्टकः पन्था यत्र संपूज्यते हरिः ।
कुपथं तं विजानीयाद् गोविन्दरहितागमम् ॥

śivālaye paṭhenityaṃ tulasīvanasaṃsthitaḥ ||
