The closing sukta of Mandala Two, by Gritsamada, again to the Shakunta, in jagati with one long ashti verse. Birds that speak in season call out sunwise like singers. The bird utters two kinds of speech, like a singer of Saman, and shines in gayatri and trishtubh alike. O bird, you sing the Saman like the udgatri; you recite at the pressings like the son of a brahman. From every side speak good fortune to us, from all sides speak what is holy. Sitting silent, think kindly of us; flying up, sound like a lute. The mandala ends with Gritsamada's refrain: may we speak loud at the rite with heroes.
